As first time parents you can’t ever be fully ready for what the birth of your child entails. It can seem as though there are too many questions that need answering and too many things to learn. It can be a daunting time for anybody.
We decided to move away from the conventional ideas of NCT and opted for a course in Hypnobirthing. Friends of ours told stories of how ‘Hypnobirthing’ Mothers had been able to have calm, peaceful, natural births and that appealed to us. We could never have imagined how profoundly important the Hypnobirthing course was going to be to us.
Armed with an abundance of skills, my partner Anna did something truly incredible but something not totally unique. Like all other hypnobirthing mothers Anna amazed family members and midwives alike by staying in a calm relaxed state. This was by no means a perfect birth, it was long and arduous. To everyone’s surprise Anna managed to find a place within herself where she could release all fear and fully trust her body so it was able to fulfil its task at its own pace.
After 36 hours Bella was born naturally and without any drugs, gas & air or intervention. From the first moments she was bright eyed and alert in all ways. She took to the breast almost instantly and has been a joy ever since. We know this all happened because she was a hypnobirthing baby.
We would never have achieved all we did without the help and guidance of one woman. Marilyn was perfect for us in every single way. I will run out of superlatives when trying to describe how amazing she was. We needed someone special and Marilyn ticked our every box. You often meet people who are willing to go that extra mile for you: Marilyn would go an extra thousand miles for anybody and still want to do more. Marilyn’s wonderful foresight enables her to tailor the hypnobirthing course to your individual needs and make it an unforgettable experience. Most importantly for us she was just so kind and caring.
People like that don’t come around too often…
If and when we decide to have a second child we won’t think twice before enrolling with Marilyn again. She is a truly lovely lady doing a wonderful thing. It seems simple to us, there can be no other option.
