During our pregnancy, my husband and I attended a tour of St John’s hospital. I returned home stressed about the prospect of having to go to hospital to give birth. I had lost both my parents and had spent many a traumatic hour on hospital wards. Unfortunately my idea of hospital was not the sort of place where happy events occurred and therefore the thought of maybe having to attend a hospital to give birth filled me with dread.
A lady from my yoga course had her first baby whilst I was pregnant. She bought her son into class to meet us all. She had a home birth using hypnobirthing and her baby was extremely calm which she put down to the hypnobirthing.
I decided to follow up on her advice to look into hypnobirthing and stumbled across Marilyn’s website. I called her and explained my situation. Her current hypnobirthing course had commenced the previous week, so she suggested that my husband and I do the first part of the course with her one night and then join in with the group the following night.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and continued with the practice at home. Through hypnotherapy, Marilyn helped me to finally come to terms with the loss of my parents and gave me the confidence that I would be a good parent.
You may have already read from the other testimonials the benefits of hypnobirthing. I would like to add that our son is a very chilled out, happy baby. People comment on this all of the time and are surprised at how little he cries and how he is happy to be passed around to other people without making any fuss. He smiles all the time and was alert from the first few minutes after he was born. He has always slept well and feeds well from the breast. He has a good weight and sits on the 50th percentile on the baby weight charts. I believe this is also a result of following the hypnobirthing course.
Marilyn’s course was good fun and a great way to meet like minded parents. Marilyn organised a coffee morning whilst myself and the ladies from my course were still pregnant, to meet some other mothers who had previously attended the hypnobirthing classes and their babies. After our births, Marilyn arranged a coffee morning to reunite the new mothers. I regularly meet up with the other mum’s and it is great to think we all went through this amazing experience together.
