What is HypnoBirthing?

HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing.

Developed by Marie Mongan in America in the 60s, it once again returns birth to its rightful place. A beautiful, natural event, enjoyed by parents who are well informed and happy to trust in the mother’'s instincts to deliver a healthy baby.

Once fear is removed from the equation, and trust, relaxation and unique breathing techniques are used, healthy mothers are able to deliver their babies without medical intervention. HypnoBirthing® mothers tend to experience a much lower Caesarean Section rate, a lower induction rate, less tearing and episiotomies, less need for pharmaceutical pain relief, a shorter labour, easier breastfeeding, less postnatal depression and a calmer baby.

Birth Companions feel very much involved in the birth, knowing what to expect and how to support the mother in her relaxation and acting as the interface between the mother and the medical professionals.

HypnoBirthing® will teach you the art of using your own natural birthing instincts. With HypnoBirthing®, you will not be in a trance or a sleep state. You will be aware and fully in control, but profoundly relaxed.
